In a beautiful display of community spirit and advocacy, the Autism Helping Hands Foundation (AHHF) recently collaborated with St. Stephens Parish of the ACK Diocese of Kajiado for a special outreach program at a local school in Ongata Rongai.
demystify autism for young learners
The event was centered on supporting students’ academic journeys while fostering a deeper understanding of neurodiversity. Founders Dauglas Otieno and Linet Atieno Ouma led the mission, delivering essential school supplies including exercise books, pens, and pencils to a group of eager and excited students.
The donation was designed to provide lasting impact, with the volume of supplies intended to support the children’s writing and learning needs for the entire school year. Beyond the practical utility of the stationery, the foundation utilized the exercise books as a medium for education; the back cover of every book featured a specially drafted autism awareness write-up. This write-up explains what autism is in simple terms and offers guidance on how children can interact with and support their neurodivergent peers, turning a daily classroom tool into a constant reminder of kindness and inclusion.

beginning of AHHF’s literacy campaign
The atmosphere at the school was one of pure joy as the students received their year-long supply of materials. For AHHF, this event in Ongata Rongai represents a strategic blend of their Health and Education pillars—meeting a tangible physical need while simultaneously planting seeds of empathy in the classroom. By placing these educational messages directly into the hands of students, the Autism Helping Hands Foundation and the ACK Diocese of Kajiado are ensuring that the message of inclusion is read, shared, and practiced every single day of the school year.
