Dauglas Otieno
Director, Autism Helping Hands Foundation
Douglas Otieno serves as the Technical Director of Autism Helping Hands Foundation, where he leads infrastructure support initiatives for vulnerable communities across Africa.
Based in Nairobi, he oversees a diverse portfolio of international partner organizations, working to improve the lives of children and families affected by autism and related challenges.
In addition to his work with the foundation, Mr. Otieno is the Founder and Director of Brick-and-Mortar Investment Limited, an international construction and real estate development company he established in October 2011. The company operates across Africa and is also a registered contractor in the United States, having successfully executed construction and logistics contracts in support of U.S. military peacekeeping missions in Somalia.
Mr. Otieno’s professional journey began in civil engineering and project management. In 2009, he served as Project Manager for Alpha Logistics, overseeing large-scale UN construction and rehabilitation projects in Somalia. He has also held key roles in the private sector, including Construction Coordinator for Mastermind Tobacco Limited—managing multimillion-dollar real estate projects across Kenya—and Civil Engineer at Agro-Chemical and Food Company in Muhoroni, where he directed factory and estate maintenance as well as new building projects.
Beyond his extensive professional experience, Mr. Otieno is a dedicated advocate for children with autism—a mission that stems from his personal journey as the father of a child with autism, Sean. His passion for uplifting underserved and marginalized communities has spanned over two decades and ultimately inspired the founding of Autism Helping Hands
Foundation. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to building not just structures, but hope, dignity, and opportunity for others.
